Duct Leakage Testing is a test for air tightness, each cubic foot of air that leaks out from the duct system must be made up by a cubic foot of air blown in by the fan. Thanks to our test we can measure the amount of air moving through the fan, and quantify the duct leakage at the test pressure.
Why is this necessary?
The duct leakage testing also known as pressure testing, is a procedure which helps to locate improperly sealed areas of the ductwork which can have a significant effect on HVAC system performance, energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in the form of CO2. The leakage testing requirements of AS 4254.2:2012 are an important step towards addressing this problem and can be expected to improve the quality of duct construction and installation in Australia.
