Water balancing is mostly water flow and pressure test through hydronic heating and cooling systems. Customers with water balance needs will find water-side balancing to be as detailed and important as the air distribution process.
Why is this necessary?
Water Balancing is the methodical regulation of system fluid flows through the use of acceptable procedures to achieve the desired or specified design water flow. When beginning the balance of a system, you must locate the terminal with the least amount of flow in regards to the engineer’s drawing. Once the “low” terminal has been located, you can then proceed to adjust all circuit balancing valves to proportionally match the original “low” terminal. There must be at least one terminal that is wide open to achieve optimum efficiency.
This allows the facility manager to feel comfortable that all instrumentation utilised for measurements is calibrated accurately.
